Sustainability Statement

UK Lanyard Makers Ltd is a family-owned business employing local staff and is based in a converted stable block on a farm in Surrey. We believe that we have a responsibility to protect the environment beyond our legal and regulatory obligations and are committed to reducing our environmental impact through various aspects. An integral part of our business strategy and operating methods is that we are continually looking for ways to improve our environmental impact.

Products

  • Zero air miles: All our materials are sourced by sea freight rather than by air, thus reducing our carbon footprint.

  • Our products are made ethically in Britain using rPET ribbon and other recyclable components.

  • All our manufacturing is done in-house and never outsourced. We know what conditions our products are made in and we are able to trace the process of each product from the beginning to completion.

  • The packaging we use is as minimal as possible. We do not wrap or pack individual items and only use shipping packaging which has been recycled, can be recycled or is compostable.

People

  • We are a 'Living Wage Employer' that values our diverse team.

  • Measures have been put in place to keep all employees and contractors safe on the premises.

  • We use external Health & Safety and external HR professionals to ensure that UK laws and regulations are adhered to.

  • All our employees have the same opportunities to fulfil their potential within the business and are free from discrimination. We want everyone to feel comfortable to be themselves when working here by appreciating each person’s own skills and knowledge.

  • Equality, inclusion and diversity is the heart of our business with no gender pay gap up to board level.

  • We value our local community, donate money to charities and employ local contractors wherever possible for maintenance and projects.

Planet

  • We aim to reuse and recycle everything we can and are constantly researching new avenues to recycle even more.

  • We only use licensed and appropriate businesses to recycle and dispose of waste The inks used in our products are water based and not solvent based.

  • In order to reduce consumption machines are switched off when not in use.

  • The on-site solar panel system contributes to our electricity usage and our heating has been changed to energy efficient heat pumps for the winter months.

  • As most employees live nearby, we encourage all to commute by foot, cycle or car share when possible.
